Wren School’s online science classes for grades 9–12 are live, 50-minute lessons that meet twice a week in groups of 2, 4 or 8. High school students get support in biology, chemistry and physics, from lab reasoning to quantitative problem sets, with a background-checked tutor in the US or Canada. What your child learns in grades 9–12 science
The main topics we teach in this band. Each group works at its own level, so the exact order depends on where the children are.
Chemistry
Atomic structure, bonding, the mole, stoichiometry, solutions, and acids and bases.
Physics
Motion, forces, energy and momentum, waves, and electricity, with the math that goes with them.
Lab reasoning
Designing investigations, handling uncertainty, and interpreting graphs and results.
Problem sets
Multi-step quantitative problems worked through out loud, so students learn a method, not just an answer.
What a typical week looks like
Your child has two live 50-minute classes a week with the same small group. Students bring what they are studying at school. A typical class revisits one hard idea, works a model problem together, and then has each student solve and explain a problem while the tutor listens for where the reasoning slips.

Which high school sciences do you cover?
Biology, chemistry and physics. Students are grouped by the course they are taking and their current level.
Can my child get help with chemistry math, like stoichiometry?
Yes. Quantitative problem solving is a large part of the 9–12 classes. Students work problems out loud so the tutor can see where a method breaks down.
Do you offer lab credit?
No. Wren School supports learning and does not issue school credits or lab hours.
